FutureLens

Description:

The Technology:

Researchers at The University of Tennessee have developed a Java-based visual analytical software environment that can be used to support the extraction and tracking of concepts, scenarios and plots from textual media. Using tagged entities and context specific words and phrases indentified by underlying nonnegative tensor factorization (NTF), FutureLens can facilitate knowledge discovery of hidden activities and themes.

Benefits:

•    Enables knowledge discovery and prediction capability by exploiting multidimensional representations of text.
•    Substantially reduces the required amount of manpower when reading/browsing large scale document collections
•    Has a built-in demo program illustrating basic functionality for users unfamiliar with the program.
•    Maintains a program look and feel that is consistent across several different user platforms.
