Dairy Mastitis Vaccine

Description:
Reference PD 02059

Abstract:

Researchers at the University of Tennessee have identified the virulence factors and increased the understanding of the pathogenesis of intramammary infections caused by S. uberis and responsible for mastitis.  They have succeeded isolating and expressing a protein from S. uberis central to the infection process. This recombinant protein was used to stimulate antibody production against S. uberis and used as a vaccine to prevent intramammary infections caused by this mastitis pathogen.
